The pedestrian, identified as a 57-year-old man from Atascadero, was walking in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old woman from Santa Maria, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the CHP investigation.
