Orange County Fire Authority hosts annual Recruit Academy Open House

Future firefighters get hands-on experience

Event to be held on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) will host its annual Recruit Academy Open House on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the OCFA Regional Training Center, located at 18521 Gothard St., Huntington Beach. This event is free and open to the public.

The Recruit Academy Open House is an opportunity for individuals interested in a career as a firefighter to learn more about the OCFA and its Recruit Academy program. Attendees will have the chance to meet with current recruits and staff, tour the training facilities, and get hands-on experience with firefighting equipment.

The OCFA Recruit Academy is a 24-week program that provides recruits with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a firefighter. Recruits learn about fire suppression, hazardous materials, emergency medical services, and other aspects of firefighting. Upon graduation from the academy, recruits are assigned to a fire station and begin their careers as firefighters.
